Day 2, Here We Come

OK, Packer fans, hope you've recovered from the excitement and wheeling and dealing of Day 1 of the 2006 NFL Draft. It was all in all a very good day for the Packers, taking arguably the best defensive player in the draft in linebacker A. J. Hawk. (By the way, he's already been assigned jersey #50.) The Pack also picked up some depth on the O-line with Colledge and Spitz, and probably the second best receiver in the draft in Greg Jennings. Add Hodge at linebacker and the Pack shored up a lot of gaps.

Day 2 is about to commence. Where will Packer GM Ted Thompson go today with his remaining six picks? More trades? Or hold 'em and fire away?

The Pack needs additional depth on the offensive and defensive lines as well as at receiver. Admittedly, this is a draft not deep at receiver, but maybe there are some hidden gems out there like, oh I dunno, a 7th-rounder like Donald Driver, for example. The Pack could also pick up some additional defensive backfield help, running backs, and -- if Omar Jacobs of Bowling Green is still available -- perhaps even a quarterback pick might not be a bad selection.

Get your cup of coffee (or other favorite libation) and settle in for another long day. We'll do our best here at PackerFansUnited.com to keep you current with what the Packers are up to throughout the day.
